Giselle
Ballett Theater Basel, Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève
Albrecht is engaged but falls in love with Giselle, an immigrant who earns extra money as a cleaner for his family. Their different backgrounds and the expectations of their respective families complicate their affair. When his double life is exposed, Giselle, inconsolable and distraught, kills herself. She haunts Albrecht in his memories and dreams. Pontus Lidberg has turned this romantic ballet to original music by Adolphe Adam into a modern evening of dance that addresses contemporary themes and issues.
